Photoboot turns a laptop, tablet or Mac mini with a webcam into a party photo booth. Guests strike a pose, watch the countdown and walk away with a sticker, printed on the spot by a small Bluetooth thermal printer of the kind you find for a few euros online. Scan a QR code and they get a colour copy on their phone too.
Who it’s for
Anyone throwing a party: weddings, birthdays, company parties, school fairs. Open the site, connect the printer, put the tablet on a stand and let the guests do the rest. No app to install and no account needed.
Features
- Prints from the browser. It talks to the printer over Bluetooth, straight from the web page: Phomemo, the “cat printers”, LuckJingle, PeriPage, Paperang, Niimbot and more.
- Looks, live on the camera. Classic, Pop art, Woodcut or Stipple, shown before the photo is taken, plus a mirror and a big-head twist.
- Photo strips of one to four shots, with a header and footer of your own: names, a date, a hashtag or your own artwork.
- Runs on its own. Automatic printing, a print limit, a paper-low warning for the host, a “tap to take your photo” screen while nobody is around, and camera and printer connections that recover by themselves. A PIN keeps guests in the booth.
- Every photo kept on the booth. A colour copy of each photo stays in the browser, ready to download as a ZIP the next morning.
- Three languages: English, Dutch and French, or your own wording for every message.
- Event galleries, if you want one. For €19 every photo of the party lands in one private online gallery, with a ZIP download, kept for a year, and as many booths as you like.
The booth itself is free, with or without a printer. “Start without printer” works on anything with a camera.
Privacy
Taking a photo or printing a sticker sends nothing anywhere: the picture is processed on the booth device and the printer is reached over Bluetooth. A photo only goes to the server when a guest asks for a copy on their phone, or when the host has bought an event gallery. Shared photos are deleted after 30 days (a year for a paid gallery), and every photo page has a button to delete it for good. Analytics only run if you accept them. The details are in the privacy policy and the terms.
Open source
Photoboot is open source under the MIT licence: the code is on GitHub, with a Docker setup to host your own booth.
